MISSION BEACH WOMAN’S CLUB SELECTS

MISSION BAY HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM
FOR 2008 FUNDRAISER BENEFICIARY

(Mission Beach, CA)   January 5, 2008.  Mission Beach Woman’s Club has announced their beneficiary for their 2008 fundraiser will be the Mission Bay High School’s (MBHS) music program.  The MBHS music program was reinstated just one year ago after a long hiatus.  The Mission Beach Woman’s Club recognized this new program required substantial private funding to provide instruments in order to maximize the benefits of music for participating MBHS students.   This year’s event will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 3:00-6:00PM at The Pennant (2893 Mission Blvd) in South Mission Beach and is open to the public.

States Pam Deitz, MBHS Band Boosters, “Mission Beach Woman’s Club has guaranteed the MBHS music program $10,000 which is an unprecedented one time donation towards supporting music in our community.  We are so grateful for their support!  Additionally, they have set an excellent example of how our community can work together to make the beach area a better place to live.”

The MBHS music program is a true success story directed by JP Balmat who is alumni of MBHS and former member of the MBHS Dixie Jazz Band.  “This is my dream job”, states Balmat.  Balmat also attended Kate Sessions Elementary and Pacific Beach Middle School.  Balmat went on to SDSU where he majored in Music Education and graduated in Spring 2006

Enrollment in the MBHS music program has exceeded expectations.  This year MBHS offers Beginning Band class for students who have never picked up an instrument, Concert Band where the Beginning Band students will move into and a Jazz Band class which is traditional Dixie Band with modern and jazz influences.  The award winning MBHS Dixie Jazz Band will participate in their second year at the prestigious Sacramento Jazz Jubilee in May 2008.

For more information on the 2008 Mission Beach Woman’s Club fundraiser or to make a donation for the silent auction see www.mbwcinfo.com.   The MBWC is located at 840 Santa Clara Place in Mission Beach and is a 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to community service, literacy, and community issues.  All donations are 100% tax deductible.
